Beginning in 1983 with Kyunggi Science High School, there are currently one Science Genius School and seventeen Science High Schools in 16 counties and cities in Korea. However, there are no specialized schools in Ulsan, such as Science or Foreign Language schools, causing our outstanding talents to flow out into other districts.

Therefore, the establishment of a Science High School in Ulsan for the gifted students in Ulsan was a strong yearning for Ulsan citizens, including the students and their parents.
Therefore, with the efforts of many related officials and people including the superintendent of educational affairs, the Ministry of Education and Human Resources allocated a budget for the establishment of the Ulsan Science High School for the first time in February of 2003, accelerating the school’s establishment.

Ulsan Science High School is a Special Education School, aiming at fostering creative leaders for the future society through specialized science education. The greatest task of Ulsan Science High School is fostering outstanding science gifted students to compete in the global society, who not only have superior intellect but also remarkable abilities to solve problems, realizing creative products. We will provide proper education and support to enable them to become the true workers and creative leaders for our nation based on their special talents. In turn, their creative pursuit for knowledge and the results will enhance our national competitiveness and contribute to the good of all mankind.
